Choosing a pole for your home

Start with the room

Measure the ceiling height and the free space around the pole. You need a suitable load-bearing ceiling point for a tension-mounted pole. Suspended ceilings are not suitable.

Choose the mounting type

Tension-mounted poles are common at home because they can be removed. Freestanding stage poles do not require a ceiling connection, but they are heavier, more expensive and need more floor space.

Check diameter and finish

Studio and competition poles commonly use a 45 mm diameter. Different metal finishes can feel very different depending on your skin and possible metal sensitivities.

Buy for safety

Use a reputable manufacturer or authorised seller. Confirm that every required extension, mount and fixing is included. When you are uncertain about a ceiling, ask a qualified professional before installation.
